Default Get rid of the bad trading system in GW

One of the biggest problems in Guild Wars, is the endless spamming in chats, from people who wants to sell their stuff. Ofcourse can't people use the trading chat, and even that is overspammed. So here is my suggestion to get rid of this problem.
About auction house, I've heard a million times that would come. But I think that is rumours. Anyway, what Anet should do, is to make something like the system FlyFF (Fly for Fun) has. I've seen my friend play it, and its really awesome: You set up a small shop, with 24 slots. You fill them with the items you want to sell, and set the price on them. When a buyer come to your shop, he can only buy with the price you made yourself. It's a chat there so people can leave a comment too. After you have written the shop text, you can go afk while people are coming to your shop to buy. A text will appear over your head.
I don't mean that Anet should copy Flyff (auction house is from WoW too), but something like this should be made, but also keeping the old trade.
Any comments?

Lots of Korean MMOs have this (actually, most of them it seems).

It's a nice idea but it gets REALLY annoying to see all those shop boxes over people's heads in town. It would work, but ONLY if you could easily enable/disable seeing the descriptions.

That should be a option, yes. And the signs shouldn't be so big.

We should get something similar like this, but just 1 large window. Each person would place the items for sale in the window. This would help drive prices down also if 2 people are trying to sell the same thing, a smart buyer would obviously go for the cheaper one. Also, it should be in The Great Temple Of Balthazar and be cross-district so all trading goes on in 1 town and you cant miss any good deals. This is a helluva lot to ask for, but at least they could implement something.

You can fix this easily:
- Make the sell/buy feature avilable from Xunlai Representatives. You pay them 50 gold for each service to be able to use the /sell /buy emotes or buttons. Buttons would appear in another tab of the Xunlai storage.
- Once you get the option, you can set a shop to buy or sell stuf with the emote or button. The shop would be like the current Trade window.
- Selling will only allow receiving gold (for a maximum of 100k), and buying will give gold for items.
- You'll be able to set a short text to explain what you sell. Those text appear when hiting [Alt] key (Show allies/other).
- Change the color of their names to Orange (sell) and purple (buy) so people can find them faster.
- Add an option to the general options tab to remove the text from screen.
- Limit the time a shop can be set to 24hours, after that time, you are disconected.
- The shop will close automatically too if you get 100k.
- Set fixed areas in some outpost so shops can't be opened anywhere else. For example, in Kaineng, set the Back alley where no one is ever so people must set their shops over there. In The Market, set those two empty spaces in the middle of the outpost, etc.. That would prevent them from putting theyir shops all over the place.

What about that?

auctionhouses dont stop spamming.
while GWs trading system could use some work, the argument that "we should have an auctionhouse just to get rid of trade spammers!" is a stupid one. if anything siply say it should be instated to make things more efficient, and easier to aquire.
but as is, most of the trade spams are relegated to districts 1-2 of the major cities, feel free to zone to different districts.
if the occasional trade pm that occurs in the less populated areas still drives you nuts, then an auctionhouse wont solve your problem.

Agreed. What Anet has here...is...well...nothing. What we have is CTRl+C then CTRL+V then "Enter", repeat x100. I love the shop idea, but would not like the little bubbles above our heads. A toggle for it would solve everything. Coming from playing Ultima Online, (until it turned into a hack/Ebay festival) I greatly miss free vendor selling and a well-rounded trading system. Hell, they had a better trading system when it was released in the 90s then Anet has here today. Come'on Anet! Step it up!

AHHH!! TOO MANY COLORS!! IT BURNS MY EYES!!
I cant belive people actually play this game, everything is so bright and pink and... ahmm... no other word for that... gay! (no offense to the homosexuals)

Why would a.net make and auction system when gwguru makes one for them? Every sucessfull player buy and sell at guru.
Just register there and "gg" (like most of the ppl would say)

I wouldn't like that, because you wouldn't Know WHAT they are selling, fro example fi i was looking for Zodiac, How would i know who has that?

Which is simple.

I spam the chat for Zodiac weapons...

back to square one.

I am posting here to make a couple points:
1 An auction House can stop the spamming of WTS or WTB if set up properly
2 In an auction House you should be able to see the item beign sold
3 With an auction house anyone should be able to put an unlimited amount of items into it but have a time limit on how long the items stay in
4 If set up right the max a person can get for any item should be 100k minus the House fee

I am not saying steal the idea from WOW or any other game but the current trade system is broken and needs an overhaul (Pimp My Ride anyone) badly.

Ascalon city: Flea market, look hard enough, and you'll find it
Lion's arch: Weapon mods, you want? you buy.
Droknar's forge: Rare and common materials of all sorts, collector's items
Temple of the ages: Ectos, shards, and high-end overpriced weapons
Kaineng: All kinds of Factions weapons and greens, Faction related materials, pets
Kamadahn: Inscriptions, NF greens
International districts: Lots of funny symbols flying around

And there, is the list of places (District 1, and up to 3 during busy hours) where spam occurs.

With well over 50 (or 100?) locations to choose from, isn't this really just a completely negligible issue?

Take is as a department store. You have 5 floors, you know where to go to find what you want. And if the lag is too bad, go to district 6 or something.

Other games give you a nice window, GW has solved the problem by itself. Things are organized.

Funny how freakishly true the above post by Antheus is. Even with all the chaotic spam (some would say) there is some logically organization that's going on.

It is true that there is virtually no trading system (if not primitive) in Guild Wars. That I agree to.

However, saying that an auction house or an advanced trade system will solve the spam issue, I don't believe it would. What if someone sets up a shop and spams "Come check out my shop! Lots of items for sale! Look for dancing hobo next to xyz!!!" ?

Personally, I like using fan sites to buy/sell my items (ie. GWG auctions). I find it much more efficient. No need to be in-game to sell your items. AND if you're not in the game, you don't have to deal with trade spam.

Also, you have the ability to search, organize and keep track of all your sales/purchases. Something an in-game system wont be as powerful as.

That won't happen, people will go afk. Maybe a little in the start...

The thing over your head should be easy to turn on/off, and you can choose if you want to see WTS/Both/Nothing.

It's not only annoying for people who don't like the spam, it's also VERY hard to sell your stuff.

In this way, you can sell many items at the same time easy, and the prices will go down since ppl wont bother to set items over 100k (if it's not uber-rare)

Read the thread, people will write what they sell, and it will appear over their head.
